Everyone reacts to stress and traumatic experiences differently. While some have reactions that can be seen as normal responses to life events, others may experience signs or symptoms of a more serious conditions.
Mental health and substance use issues can affect anyone;
you are not alone. The Military Health System has many resources available to help those who need it.

Eielson AFB Mental Health and Substance Use Services
Our facility offers the following mental health and substance use services:

Primary Care Behavioral Health
We provide brief solution-based wellness counseling covering a wide variety of mental and medical concerns, including but not limited to:
Sticking to an exercise plan Diabetes
Weight management Putting yourself first
High blood pressure Stress Management/relaxation
Relationship problems Anxiety/worries
Sleep problems Pain management/Fibromyalgia
Depression Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Alcohol and Drug Prevention and Treatment Program
The ADAPT team offers assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use disorders to all active duty service members. We also provide education, prevention, and outreach services.

Family Advocacy Program
Please call to schedule an appointment; we also see same-day walk-ins during regular duty hours. If you experience an after-hours domestic violence emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest ER.
Services include:
- Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate: Crisis response support and safety planning for all forms of domestic violence. Please call 907-669-2012; services are available 24/7.
- New Parent Support Program: Prevention-based parenting support for any family expecting or with a child from ages newborn to age 3; please contact FAP for additional information.
- Family Advocacy Support Tool: Strength-based couples and individual prevention counseling for family-related concerns; please contact FAP for additional information and class offerings and times.

Military dependents do not require a referral for off-base mental health services. However, some local providers and clinics may require one. If you need a referral, contact your PCM.

- A tele-mental health provider can address concerns such as major life stressors, emotional distress, grief-related counseling, work and family issues, depression, anxiety, and how to cope with them.

- Offering urgent care and mental health care services; connect face-to-face with providers through virtual appointments.
Psychological Health Resource Center: 1-866-966-1020
- Available 24/7 for questions about psychological health topics. No direct patient care services. Helps callers access care and community support in the local area.
What TRICARE Covers
TRICARE covers medically and psychologically necessary mental health and substance use care. This includes both inpatient and outpatient care.
